The Albufeira Lifeguard Association (ANSA) marks this Thursday, December 26th, the 23rd anniversary of its foundation, marking more than two decades of dedication to water safety and the well-being of the local community. Founded in 2001, ANSA stands out as a reference entity, recognized both locally and nationally for its mission to prevent drownings and protect human and animal lives on beaches, swimming pools and other aquatic spaces.
Since its creation, ANSA has guided its activities around four essential pillars: prevention, continuous training, innovative projects and multisectoral assistance. One of the examples of the association’s innovative work is the “Safe Beaches All Year” program, which guarantees surveillance on beaches even outside the bathing season, contributing to the reduction of incidents.
In a statement, Jorge Azevedo, president of ANSA, highlighted the crucial role played by its members, lifeguards, trainers and social bodies in achieving the association’s mission. “Over these 23 years, everyone’s dedication has been fundamental in ensuring a safer environment for the residents and visitors of Albufeira,” he said.
The association took advantage of this date to thank the support of various entities and institutional partners, such as the Albufeira City Council, the Maritime Authority, the Maritime Police, the GNR, the Fire Department, the Red Cross, and the municipality’s parish councils. Recognition was also extended to sponsors, dealers, volunteers and founders, whose collaboration has been essential.
The 23rd anniversary celebration is also an opportunity to renew our commitment to continue serving the community with excellence and innovation. “Together, we save lives and guarantee a safer future for everyone”, concluded Jorge Azevedo.
With best wishes for happy holidays, ANSA wishes everyone health, peace and prosperity in the coming year.
