The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, reported this Thursday (26) that the Secretariat of Foreign Affairs has already started conversations with Central American countries, in case the United States carries out mass deportations of immigrants after the inauguration of Donald Trump as president in January 20th.

“We will continue to defend Mexican men and women in the United States,” he said during his morning press conference.

The representative stated that these conversations are being led by the Foreign Minister of Mexico, Juan Ramón de la Fuente, and that they are, in addition to the Central Americans.

Furthermore, the president stated that Mexico is putting pressure on the US so that “repatriation is carried out to the different countries of origin”.

Sheinbaum added that they will be closely monitoring this topic, offering support to Latin American countries. “We will be close, although we have a trade treaty with the United States and Canada, we will always be close to Latin America”, concluded the president.
