According to the head of Iranian diplomacy, Abbas Arakchi, and the departmental partner from China, Wang I, the Middle East has become a battlefield for the conflicts of countries that are not even based in the region.
The head of Iranian diplomacy, Abbas Arakchi, and his departmental partner from China, Wang I, agreed on Saturday that the Middle East “is not a battlefield of great powers”. According to them, it should therefore not serve as an area of geopolitical rivalry between countries located outside the region. TASR reports on this at based on the AFP report.
“The international community should respect the sovereignty, security, stability, unity and territorial integrity of the countries of the Middle East,” the ministers said, according to a report from Beijing. Arákčí is on his first visit to China since he was appointed to the post.
They demand a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip
At the same time, the ministers repeated the calls for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip and emphasized the importance of observing the already agreed-upon cease-fire in Lebanon. They also called for “coordinated support for anti-terrorist, reconciliation and humanitarian processes in Syria”.
“Both sides agreed that the Middle East belongs to the people of the Middle East and is not a battlefield for the powers. Therefore, it should not fall victim to the geopolitical competition and conflicts of countries that are not even in the region,” the Chinese ministry said according to AFP.
Arákčí and Wang I also discussed the Iranian nuclear program, which, according to the governments of several countries, including the US, could lead to the production of weapons.
