The municipality of Loulé announced that the New Year’s Eve party in Quarteira will feature a special novelty: the fireworks display used will not have the usual noise. The choice was made with animals in mind, which are much more sensitive to sound (and also people who are more vulnerable to noise).
Through a post on social media, the city hall explained that “special pyrotechnics” will be used to eliminate the explosions typical of rockets. This initiative promises to make the celebration more inclusive, reducing the negative impact of this tradition.
