The city of zero cases in April, a result that had not been achieved since January 2023, according to data from the State Department of Public Security.
The brand helped reduce statistics in the capital in the first four months of the year, with 17 femicides, compared to 23 in the same period in 2025.
The good news was not replicated in the interior, however, which led to an increase in the state’s general indexes in the first four months of the year.
In the state total, cases increased from 81 to 106 in the period. The statistics were driven by the interior, which recorded 76 femicides, compared to 44 in the same period in 2025.
In the metropolitan region, cases rose from 14 to 13 in the four months. In April, there were three femicides.
Secretary of Public Security, Osvaldo Nico Gonçalves says that the department has sought integrated action by security forces in protecting women.
“We have expanded operations, reporting channels, monitoring aggressors and reception programs to act preventively and guarantee quick responses to victims”, he states.
