Javier Milei’s chief of staff, Manuel Adorni, announced this Friday, the 19th, his resignation amid a scandal of alleged illicit enrichment. Adorni acknowledged this month that he withheld about half a million dollars from his wealth statements.
“Adrián Ravier will be the new presidential spokesperson. We wish you every success in this new stage, dear Adrián. You have a great challenge ahead of you: you will be the voice of the one who is making Argentina great again”, wrote Adorni on the X network.
The alleged illicit enrichment of the official close to Milei has strained government management in the last three months and raised questions about Milei’s insistence on keeping him by her side.
Travels abroad, real estate acquisitions and expensive renovations raised alarms due to the apparent lack of correlation between Adorni’s formal income.
The crisis has erupted as the incomes of many Argentines are being eroded by the closure of more than 20,000 companies, mass layoffs and rising utility rates.
The new presidential spokesperson, Adrián Ravier, has been close to Milei since before his arrival at Casa Rosada and is one of the academics most identified with libertarian ideas, maintaining a relationship of trust with the president, says the Scope.
