Crowd fills Copacabana to welcome 2025

Millions of people, including cariocas, national and international tourists, gathered on Copacabana beach to celebrate the arrival of the year 2025. The traditional New Year’s Eve party, one of the city’s biggest events, attracted a crowd to watch the fireworks display and the shows that marked the turn of the year. The organization’s expectation was for 3 million people to be present along the coast.

To accommodate the large audience and ensure the smooth running of the event, a vast infrastructure was set up. Stages were installed at different points on the beach, including the main one, Palco Rio, which had a structure of LED panels, and was responsible for pulling the

10 stages were installed throughout the city – in addition to the 13 stages spread along the waterfront – with emphasis on the recently opened Parque Oeste (Inhoaíba) and Parque Realengo Susana Naspolini.

More than 55 attractions were present in the wonderful city. The musical program was one of the highlights of the party, with performances by different artists and styles.

The turn

The highlight of the party was, as usual, the traditional fireworks display. Local authorities estimated that 2.5 million people would gather to watch the 12-minute fireworks show, according to information from Reuters.

The colors and designs formed by the fireworks lit up the Copacabana sky, moving the crowd present. The countdown and the arrival of 2025 was marked by a synchronic mix of songs by Madonna, Coldplay and Chitãozinho and Xororó.

The fireworks show was held from 10 ferries at sea and saw more than 15 tons of fireworks fired.

In addition to the stages, chemical bathrooms, medical and security assistance stations were installed, as well as food areas and duly licensed vendors. The organization also made 2,000 police officers available to ensure the safety of the waterfront during and after the event. The public transport scheme was reinforced with the subway running throughout the night.
