Cruzeiro announced in the early hours of this Wednesday (01/01), in the first seconds of 2025, the signing of striker Gabigol, 28 years old. The club waited for the player’s contract with Flamengo to end, at the end of 2024, to confirm the reinforcement.
Gabigol’s arrival had been expected since November, when the player, after winning the Copa do Brasil with Flamengo, announced that he would leave the club. Santos tried to convince him to return to Vila Belmiro, but Cruzeiro prevailed, in one of the main negotiations in Brazilian football for 2025.

What is Gabigol’s contract like with Cruzeiro?
Gabigol’s contract with Cruzeiro runs until December 2028. It therefore lasts four seasons.
In addition to the salary, the player will receive bonuses for achieved goals and awards for achievements.

What will Gabigol’s salary be at Cruzeiro?
According to the website “ge”, Gabigol will receive around R$3 million per month at Cruzeiro, double what he earned at Flamengo. But the value is not just salaries. It includes the so-called gloves – the value that a club pays to acquire the economic rights of an athlete.

Cruzeiro debuts in the Campeonato Mineiro on January 19th, against Tombense, at Mineirão. But the club will not use its main team in the first rounds of the State Championship, as Fernando Diniz’s group will do pre-season training in the United States.
There are two friendly matches scheduled in North American territory: against São Paulo, on January 15th, and against Atlético-MG, on the 18th. Gabigol’s debut, therefore, must be against São Paulo, but in a game that is not official.
Cruzeiro should return from the United States on January 20th. On the 22nd, there is a new match for the Campeonato Mineiro, against Athletic, but in Varginha. Then, on the 26th, Raposa hosts Betim, with a great chance of Gabigol playing his first game in front of the fans at Mineirão.
Who has Cruzeiro already signed for 2025?
Gabigol was Cruzeiro’s fifth reinforcement for 2025. Before him, the club signed strikers Dudu (ex-Palmeiras) and Bolasie (ex-Criciúma), midfielder Christian (ex-Athletico) and midfielder Rodriguinho (ex-América- MG).
The club is expected to announce new reinforcements in the coming days. Among them, names like right-back Fagner, from Corinthians, midfielder Eduardo, from Botafogo, and striker Marquinhos, ex-Fluminense.
