Millions of people watch New Year’s Eve in Copacabana and Av. Paulista; check it out

Millions of Brazilians and tourists celebrated the arrival of a new year at two of the most emblematic New Year’s Eve parties in the country: on Copacabana beach, in Rio de Janeiro, and on Avenida Paulista, in São Paulo.

The two cities, known for their grandiose celebrations, attracted crowds to the traditional fireworks display and performances by various artists. Preparations for the festivities required a huge effort on the part of city halls and security agencies, which implemented traffic, security and cleaning plans, seeking to guarantee the safety and comfort of everyone.

Turn to 2025 and attractions

In both parties, the musical program was highlighted, with artists of different styles who took turns on the stages set up along Copacabana beach and Avenida Paulista. The movement was intense from the early hours of the afternoon on the 31st, with a peak close to midnight, the peak of the event.

The highlight of the night was the traditional fireworks display, held at midnight. Both in Copacabana and Avenida Paulista, the sky lit up with different colors and shapes, marking the turn of the year with a pyrotechnic display that enchanted those present.

In Rio de Janeiro, the traditional fireworks display on the Copacabana waterfront lasted around 12 minutes, when around 15 tons of fireworks were launched into the open sky, present at the Rio festival. In São Paulo, the celebrations lasted about 10 minutes and were silent.

In Copacabana, three stages were designed for New Year’s Eve. On the Leme stage, the public can follow gospel artists. On the Samba stage, shaped like a tambourine, several artists such as Marcelo D2 and Dudu Nobre, have already presented themselves so far.

On the Rio stage, the main one, with LED technology, the New Year’s Eve to 2025 was followed by a lively show by singer Anitta.

On the most famous avenue in the country, the countdown was led by Bruno and Marrone. Sertanejos are one of the attractions behind the celebrations on Avenida Paulista, which began hours before the arrival of 2025. The first musical attraction, in the capital of São Paulo, started at 4pm. There, names like Brenno & Matheus and Gloria Groove have performed so far.
