In addition to two deaths, the New Year’s attack on Kyiv resulted in at least seven wounded.
Several fires broke out in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev on Wednesday after Russian drone attacks on the city, which according to local officials, claimed at least two lives and injured seven in the first hours of the new year. The Reuters and DPA agencies informed about it, writes TASR.
The state rescue service reported that two floors of a residential building in the center of Kyiv were partially destroyed. The debris of the downed drones caused damage to other buildings in two parts of the city, including one of the buildings of the Ukrainian Central Bank.
The Ukrainian military announced that it had shot down 63 of 111 drones launched by Russia over various areas of the country overnight. According to the report, another 46 drones were disabled by electronic interference. Fires in several residential buildings were also reported by authorities in the southern Ukrainian city of Zaporozhye. According to local authorities, a 23-year-old volunteer died during Russian shelling in Kherson, also in the south of the country.
“Even on New Year’s Day, Russia is only interested in how to cause pain to Ukraine,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to the attacks on social networks.
