One of the victims of the attack with a vehicle in New Orleans, which left at least 14 people dead on Wednesday, is of Portuguese descent, “but without Portuguese nationality”, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed to CNN Portugal.

According to the newspaper, which cited family sources, that Matthew Tenedório, aged 25, was the son of Portuguese emigrant Luís Tenedório and paternal grandson of emigrants João and Dalila Tenedório, born in Vila Nova de Cerveira, district of Viana do Castelo.
Matthew Tenedório was at the scene and was shot by the attacker, who after running over dozens of people also fired shots, before being shot down by the police.
Also according to Jornal Luso-Americano, Matthew Tenedório, who was born in Huntington, Long Island, in the State of New York, was at a dinner to celebrate the New Year with his parents and decided to go with friends to Bourbon Street, where the event took place. the attack.

The New Orleans football team extended its condolences to the family on the death of Matthew Tenedorio, noting that he was a “valued member of the video production team.”
