Rodrigo Garro, 27, an Argentine midfielder who plays for Corinthians, could return to Brazil soon, said the attorney general of the province of La Pampa, Armando Agüero, to the En Boca de Todos HD portal. In the early hours of Saturday (4), the player was involved in a traffic accident that left one person dead, in General Pico, his hometown.

According to Agüero, the level of alcohol detected in Garro’s body shortly after the accident, of 0.54 g/l, is below the limit considered as an aggravating factor under Argentine law, of 1 g/l. Therefore, the player was released by the police a few hours after the incident.

In the coming days, Garro is expected to give a new statement and be charged with manslaughter.

To leave the country, the player will have to indicate a fixed address and periodically present themselves to the Argentine Court to continue the process. “The boy underwent a blood alcohol test and cooperated with the police at all times, which is why arrest was not necessary. However, we will continue with the process rigorously,” Agüero told En Boca de Todos HD.

The prosecutor also told the portal that a small amount of cocaine was found with the motorcyclist Nicolás Chiaraviglio, 30, but that tests will still be carried out to determine whether he had consumed drugs.

The police are now studying images from security cameras to understand whether there was negligence on the part of the drivers and what the visibility conditions were at the time of the accident.

Corinthians stated, in a statement, that it sympathizes with the victim and his family and that it is in contact with Garro and his lawyers.
