Vassili Schneider is the youngest of an incredible family: his brothers Vadim, Niels, Volodia and Alyosha have all distinguished themselves in the cinema, on television or on stage. But now, it’s the turn of the youngest of the family to shine: Vassili Schneider, who plays the role of Albert de Morcerf in “The Count of Monte Cristo” has become one of the darlings of French cinema. But that wasn’t always the case. As a child, Vassili Schneider had the impression that he was “the one too many” in this family of artists, he confided to “Parisien”.
In a family of artists, alongside famous and talented brothers, Vassili Schneider has long been afraid of “being the extra one”
The Schneiders have talent in their blood. Jean-Paul Schneider, actor, classical dancer and director, and his partner Isabelle, pianist and model, have indeed given birth to an incredible family of five actors and artists, each more talented than the other: Vadim Schneider, born in 1986 and tragically disappeared in 2003 in a road accident while on his way to the set of the Canadian series 15/A, Volodya Schneider, born in 1989 and Alyosha Schneider, born in 1993. But it is indeed the youngest of the family, Vassili Schneider, born in 1999, towards whom all the spotlights have been focused in recent months.
Because if Vassili has had more than thirty roles to his credit since a young age, in feature films and short films or on television, there is one which has aroused public enthusiasm, in 2023: the 25-year-old young man plays the role of Albert de Morcerf, son of Edmond Dantès’ sworn enemy, . In France, the film has collected more than 9.3 million admissions, becoming one of the most viewed feature films in the history of cinema in France. The work continues its career around the world today.

But Vassili Schneider, although he was born into a family of artists, did not immediately sense the potential he had within him. In The Parisianthe actor, who is currently on the stages of Petit Saint-Martin in Next time you bite the dusta play adapted from the novel by Panayotis Pascot, also confides his frustrations when he was little.
“I have quite a gap with my brothers, tells the young prodigy to the Ile-de-France daily. From the age of 9, I was almost like an only child. I had great admiration for them, Alyosha who started a first album at 16 years old, Volodya had incredible success as a drummer, … But as a teenager, he won poetry competitions, he was a genius… And me? I was very afraid of being the one in excess, the one who didn’t have the genius of his brothers.“ Vassili Schneider also confides to Parisian how much, at that time, he felt “beast” towards his brothers. “I was skateboarding while they were writing songs, I really felt like I was out of step”he says.
But Vassili did not escape the incredible destiny of his siblings. Finished “the annoying teenager”he started to take an interest in cinema, to get a little closer to his talented brothers… And he started to go to castings, and, if we didn’t always take him seriously, that ended up working. “Cinema has always attracted me, but it’s as if I didn’t dare to be interested in it because it was their thing”he confides to Parisian.
