On Saturday (January 11), President Peter Pellegrini will award state honors for the first time. The list of awardees is not known, but according to information Zdena Studenková will not be among them.
The acting legend refused to accept the award from the new head of state. “They approached me, I politely thanked them and declined,” she stated. “NI feel the need to accept this award in the current situation of culture in Slovakia,” added Studenková. The presentation of state awards will take place in the Slovak Philharmonic.
The President can award various awards, including the Order of the White Double Cross (civil or military type), the Order of Andrej Hlinka, the Order of Ľudovít Štúr (civil or military type), the Cross of Milan Rastislav Štefánik, the Pribin Cross, the Medal of the President of the Slovak Republic. In addition to the Medal of the President of the Slovak Republic, state honors have three classes, the highest of which is Class I, the award of which is assumed to have a particularly extraordinary degree of merit to the awardee.
