Petrobras studies doubling fertilizer factories and seeks self-sufficiency

29 May (Reuters) – ⁠The ⁠president of Petrobras, ‌Magda Chambriard, said this Friday ‌that the state-owned company is studying doubling the capacity of the ⁠nitrogenous ⁠fertilizers ‌factories in the states of Sergipe and Bahia, in addition to the unit under construction in Mato Grosso do Sul.

At an event to announce the company’s investments in Sergipe, the executive also said that Petrobras’ goal is to make Brazil self-sufficient in the production of nitrogen fertilizers, a product that uses natural gas as its raw material.
