A 16-year-old teenager, identified as Edson Lopes Gama, died after being hit in the chest by a ball during a tournament in the Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes community, in Maués, in the interior of Amazonas.
The case occurred in the early hours of Monday (5), around 1 am. Witnesses reported that they tried to revive him at the scene, but he did not resist.

The delay in service was attributed to the dryness of the rivers in the region, which made transport to the city of Maués difficult.
According to Elisia Lopes Gama, the young man’s sister, he arrived at the hospital at 12:15 pm, more than 11 hours after the incident.
The family is awaiting the medical report to confirm the cause of death, but believes that the impact of the jackpot was the reason.
Edson was buried last Tuesday (7), at 10 am, in the community where he lived.
