Full of expectations, Vitória officially welcomed Wellington Rato this Friday (10), in a press conference held at CT Manoel Pontes Tanajura. New reinforcement of the season, the striker from São Paulo went to the press to talk about his choice for the red and black.
Commenting on the support from the fans since the idea of bringing him to Bahia came up, Rato thanked him for the reception and promised to live up to expectations. “I’m very happy to be here at Vitória, wearing this shirt, representing this fan base, this city. I hope I can contribute in my own way. Since the negotiation, I asked God for a lot of direction, and He opened that door. I knew this was the right place for me. I’m very happy and I hope to live up to my joy and the club’s confidence,” he said.
Since he arrived, the red and black fans’ social networks have been filled with comments and puns on the player’s surname, ranging from jokes with the saying “the mouse ate the king of Rome’s clothes” to jokes with rival Bahia, stating that “the mouse stopped eating cheese to eat sardines”.
At the press conference, he promised to take forward the affection he received: “It’s a new story, a new club, a new fan base that welcomed me very well. I hope I can repay this affection. Fans can expect a tough, committed guy, fighting on and off the field for my teammates. We want to have a blessed year, full of victories and achievements.”
Furthermore, Rato thanked the club president, Fábio Mota, for the support upon his arrival. “I want to build my name here in the history of Vitória, be able to give titles to the fans, make the fans happy, and the greatest strength was the strength that the president made for me to be here. This is the truth, what he did, the effort he made”, he thanked.
