A man was arrested this morning in Viana de Cega (2,300 inhabitants) for the murder of a 36-year-old man who was the current romantic partner of his ex-partner. The subdelegate of the Government in Valladolid, Jacinto Canales, has reported that the arrested man sneaked into the home of the victim and the woman in a way that is still unknown and without the deceased being able to defend himself, he began to fatally stab him on multiple occasions until he finished with his life. The Civil Guard is investigating how the individual was able to access the apartment in Viana de Cega where the man and his partner lived, since there are no signs of violent entry into the property, which belongs to a building where several relatives of the attacker’s ex-partner live.

The crime occurred around three in the morning, according to the information provided by the Government subdelegation, when the aggressor stabbed the victim with a knife. “The stabbing occurred in the hallway with repeated attacks with a small knife,” says Canales, but despite not being a large weapon, it was fatal because it split “in vital places.” According to the sequence of events contrasted by investigators, the deceased tried to defend himself, but was unable to overcome the injuries caused by his current partner’s ex-partner, who has also received some cuts resulting from the man’s actions. “There are no signs of access due to the aggressor’s force,” said the subdelegate, since the couple who was attacked lived in a two-story high block in the Valladolid town of Viana de Cega.

The Civil Guard has at the moment ruled out that the attacker had any keys to the house in his possession, since they are not aware that he ever lived with the woman. In addition, several relatives of that man’s ex-partner live in the small building. The arrested man, 42 years old, has been transferred to a health center to treat some minor injuries he had. Sources close to the investigation assure that, despite the specific causes of the murder being unknown in the first instance, the possibility of outstanding accounts for drugs is gaining strength, since the investigations have revealed that “there were frequent dealings” in the house. “To venture causes related to gender violence is too much,” these sources detail, adding that the absence of violence in accessing the house fits with the testimonies that “sometimes the keys to the gate were left in the door, although the police officers “The Civil Guard has not seen him tonight.” Those involved are all of Spanish nationality although of ancestry from various South American countries.
