Deputy Bia Kicis says content filled with memes is “very low level”

Opposition politicians criticized on social media the full of memes published by the Central Bank on Wednesday (15 January 2025), in which the institution denied the possibility of tariffs on Pix.

In the video, the BC states that “not good” because of “nonsense that Pix will be charged”, highlights that “nothing changes in Pix’s rules, baby” and calls followers “fee hunters in free payment service”. It also references the hit song “Going down to B.C. [de Balneário Camboriú]”, by the duo Brenno and Matheus.

In the caption of the post, the monetary authority clarifies that the objective of the publication is “to ease the little hearts of those who went to BC with their heads full of fake news about charging fees on Pix and the end of banking secrecy on their financial transactions”.

The video did not please figures such as the federal deputy (PL-DF), who responded to the post on X (formerly Twitter) stating that the content was of “very low level”.

“But it’s the face of this government, of these disqualified people who mock the Brazilian people”, declared.
