Trump’s Treasury nominee: extending tax cuts is a priority

Chosen by US President-elect Donald Trump to head the Treasury Department, Scott Bessent said this Thursday (16) that extending the 2017 tax cuts, which are set to expire at the end of this year, is “the most pressing economic issue important thing of the day.”

“If we do not renew and extend, then we face economic calamity,” Bessent told the U.S. Senate Finance Committee. “We will see a huge tax increase for the middle class.”
