Slovakia is recovering from a huge tragedy. On Thursday, January 16, an attack took place at the grammar school in Spišská Stará Ves two women aged 18 and 51 died, they were a student and a deputy director. An 18-year-old woman was also injured and was taken to a hospital in Poprad with moderate injuries. An 18-year-old high school student named Samuel attacked several people with a knife.
Immediately after the terrible attack, famous personalities and politicians expressed their horror. The majority called for peace and an end to violence, animosity and attacks. The serious incident did not escape the former adviser of Prime Minister Robert Fico. On his Facebook account, Eduard Chmelár blamed politicians who, in his opinion, overdid it.
“I strongly warn all politicians and politicizing wiseguys to SHUT THEIR MOUTH, at least at this tragic moment. The statement of Igor Matovič, who called Prime Minister Fico the murderer of the victims from Spišská Stara Ves at a press conference with psychopathic tears, is crossing all conceivable lineswhich should only be followed by taking the patient into a jacket, stripping him of his autonomy and isolating him from society,” Chmelár did not take the napkin.
He alluded to the fact that the opposition movement Slovakia claims that Fico is directly responsible for this tragedy. “If he says that students should be slapped, it has tragic consequences. Fico is directly responsible for the spread of hatred and all the tragic consequences it has. I call on Roberto Fico to immediately leave the post of Prime Minister, because he was the one who called for violence in public space towards students,” said Igor Matovič.
In its statement, the Slovakia Movement recalled that Fico recommended two days ago that students should be slapped for their opinions. It added that the prime minister is the first in the country to shape people’s opinions.
At Thursday’s press conference, Danko condemned any violence. He does not understand how it can happen that a young boy attacks his classmates and a teacher. According to him, we should return to hierarchy and respect in society. “Respect and respect are lost, people get upset in families,” he emphasized. According to him, it is necessary to think about how to stop the deepening hatred in society. But that was not all, and Chmelár also responded to him.
Andrej Danek’s speculation that the attack in Spišská Stará Ves may be related to the student’s refusal to shake hands with the president is equally highly inappropriate. The only ones who should get a say now are qualified educators, psychologists, priests and philosophers. We need to hear from those who know how to calm us down and assure us that kindness, benevolence, friendship, trust and a sense of belonging are and will be the basic pillars of our social security,” Zostra said.
When President Peter Pellegrini received high school students who won medals in the International Subject Olympiad on Monday, there was an unexpected rejection.
One of the awardees was Simon, who won a bronze medal at the Central European Mathematical Olympiad. In the palace, the young student received the award from the Minister of Education Tomáš Drucker, with whom he shook hands. Drucker then suggested to him to shake hands with President Peter Pellegrini, but Simon flatly refused with a hand gesture. The president accepted it.
In the end, Chmelár said on Facebook that we need to reveal to each other the pains that we carry in ourselves, but which we do not talk about, and not to delve into superficial statements. According to him, everything else now has to go by the wayside. “Please don’t speculate, don’t show off, no one is curious, no one needs it. Instead, make sure that your loved ones are safe and that they don’t feel insecure. Thank you,” concluded ex-adviser Fica.
