Galvão Bueno spoke out about the disagreement between Neymar and Rivaldo on social media. The fight started after the Al-Hilal striker made a controversial statement on Romário’s De Cara com o Cara program. The speech ended up generating a clash between the two icons of Brazilian football.
In the interview with Baixinho, Neymar was asked which place he would occupy in the Brazilian team that won the fifth world championship in 2002. He replied that he would take Rivaldo’s place and that he would play alongside Ronaldo and Ronaldinho Gaúcho. The comment didn’t go down well and several people responded – including Rivaldo himself. The former player publicly disagreed and stated on his social networks that, with “100% certainty”, this would never happen.
“I heard Neymar say that at his peak, he could have played in my place in the 2002 World Cup. Honestly, I recognize his talent and quality, and I even believe he would have been able to be in that team, but playing in my place would be another story. With all the respect and admiration I have for him, I can say with 100% certainty that this would not happen. At that time, I was so focused, determined and hungry to win the world title that no one else, no matter how good I was at it. peak of my career, I would be able to take my position. I say this with a lot of love and respect, but also with the confidence of someone who lived through that moment and knows how hard he fought to become world champion”, posted Rivaldo.
“Calm down, my friend… all the Brazilian players competing in the World Cup dedicated themselves and focused 100%… Some achieved their final goal, others, unfortunately, didn’t, and that’s part of football. I’ve always respected you and I’ll never take away the merit of who you are for Brazilian football… It was just a choice between the three and you don’t want me to take away Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, right?”, replied Neymar.
The discussion between the two gained repercussions, and Galvão Bueno decided to speak out about the friction. The narrator defended Rivaldo’s story and asked Neymar to be cautious.
“Neymar said in an interview with Romário that, peak by peak, he would play in Rivaldo’s place in the penta in 2002!! Calm down, Neymar!! You’re too good!! But Rivaldo has much more history than you!! Two World Cup finals, 98 and 2002!! Best in the world in 99, five-time champion and best player in the World Cup in 2002!! And congratulations, Rivaldo, you were very polite in your response!”, published the journalist.
