The president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump (Republican), will attend an inauguration lunch after taking his oath and speech this Monday (20.Jan.2025). The event is a tradition. It will be held at the National Statuary Hall, a room in the Capitol, headquarters of the US Congress in Washington, DC

This year, Trump, his vice president JD Vance (Republican), members of the presidential families, congressmen and other guests will eat crab cakes, Angus rib steak from Greater Omaha, accompanied by Thumbelina carrots, broccoli and potato gratin.

The luncheon is organized by the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies. Senator and committee chair Amy Klobuchar (Democrat) says the event is a “a moment when members of both sides of Congress come together to recognize democracy” from the USA “and the peaceful transfer of power”.

Traditionally, sophisticated and regional dishes are served during lunch, representing different parts of the country. This year, the crabs for the dumplings are from the Chesapeake Bay.

The Angus rib steak is from Greater Omaha, the metropolitan region around the city of Omaha, in the State of Nebraska. The apples used in the dessert are from Minnesota.
