The Minister of the Civil House, said this Monday (20) that the federal government will do whatever is necessary to guarantee the balance of public accounts, highlighting that this is a commitment from the president.

“The fiscal commitment is not from Minister A, from Minister B. The fiscal commitment is from the President of the Republic, from the government”, he stated in an interview with journalists at Granja do Torto after a ministerial meeting with the president.

According to Costa, new fiscal measures, as has been speculated, were not discussed at the ministerial meeting, which lasted seven hours, and there would be no new studies on this either, but he reaffirmed that, if necessary, other measures will come.

Costa was also asked if the Minister of Finance, , had been caused by the fake news about Pix’s taxation, and he denied it.

“Minister Haddad could not have been weakened because there was no real measure. What was created was false news to terrorize the population”, stated the minister. “Under no circumstances was it thought of taxing or taxing pix.”

Ministerial reform

Asked about the possibility of a ministerial reform taking place by the end of the month, as he had previously stated, Costa said that the president continues to “reflect” on changes to the team, but there is no deadline for a decision.

Two weeks ago, the minister himself had stated that the reform should be published by the 21st of this month, right after the ministerial meeting. However, there are no signs that Lula is ready for changes.

According to a source, the changes should only be made after the elections for the Chamber and Senate tables, in early February, to reflect the composition of the government base in Congress. Furthermore, there are specific problems of internal reorganization of the government that are being analyzed by the president.
