Real Valladolid defender Juma Bah terminated his contract with Ronaldo Fenômeno’s club after Manchester City showed interest in signing him. The 18-year-old’s attitude generated confusion between the two teams and the Spanish club published a statement this Wednesday (22), in which it alleges that City’s agents encouraged the player to unilaterally cancel the contract and pay his own fine. termination.

Real Valladolid claims that there were negotiations with the English for the player, but the negotiations did not go ahead, as the Spanish club intended to keep him in the squad. According to Valladolid, Juma Bah missed team training without giving reasons.

The team was informed by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) that the defender had paid the termination fine. According to the newspaper “Marca”, the fine was six million euros, around R$37 million. Valladolid tried to convince Juma Bah to stay at the club by offering a longer contract and with the possibility of playing for Team B or the main team, options that would increase the value of the agreement.

Ronaldo’s club clarified its version of the facts in a statement and assured that it will seek justice to seek its rights. The club also highlights that it “gave an opportunity for life”

Check out Real Valladolid’s statement in full:

“Abdulai Juma Bah and his agent informed Real Valladolid yesterday afternoon of their intention to unilaterally break the contract that binds both parties. Previously, on the same afternoon yesterday (21), Manchester City sent a statement requesting that Real Valladolid open negotiations for the player for a possible permanent transfer stay.

Even more so when the player is in the legally protected period of the youth phase and who in recent times has refused to sign the player license for the higher category team, as this implied an automatic increase in his release clause. Yesterday it alerted the three parties to this entire situation through different requirements, warning them about the possible consequences of their actions.

Juma Bah arrived last summer on loan from AIK Freetown. The loan contract with the Sierra Leonean club ended on June 30th of this season and included a clause for Real Valladolid to exercise a purchase option, a clause that the Blanquivioleta entity exercised on January 1st so that the defender’s federative rights belong to Pucela under a new contract of longer duration and with better conditions.

The player’s intention, allegedly supported and directed by Manchester City and his agent, caused great disappointment and outrage at Real Valladolid, who welcomed Juma Bah with open arms and gave him the opportunity of a lifetime. The Royal Spanish Football Federation has just confirmed that the player deposited the amount for the unilateral termination of the contract. In this sense, Real Valladolid informs that it reserves the right to resort to competent legal and sporting jurisdictions to exercise its rights and defend its interests.”
