It is best to respond defensively to the dangerous, aggressive driving of another driver and avoid escalation of the situation. This was pointed out by traffic psychologist Karol Kleinmann. It also advises that drivers do not sit in the car if they are angry or stressed.

According to an expert, aggressiveness behind the wheel is an increasing negative phenomenon that can be manifested by active or passive features. “Active aggression is manifested, for example, by deliberately unpleasant driving to other drivers or dangerous maneuvers. Passive aggressiveness, on the contrary, includes blocking lanes, using a mobile phone or driving under the influence of alcohol, “he explained.

According to him, it is best not to respond to the aggression of another driver and keep peace. “It is important to maintain full focus on the road and not to be distracted. Drivers should not try to ‘raise’ other traffic participants – so the best response is not to pay attention to the aggressive driver at all. Many explicitly seek it with their behavior, ” Kleinmann explained.

At the same time, he appeals to drivers not to sit behind the wheel with negative emotions and rather let someone else drive or choose another type of transport. “Physical activity or breathing exercises helps to alleviate anger and stress – they can also be performed behind the wheel. A few deep breaths and exhausts are enough“he added.
