The United States Senate voted to confirm Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense this Friday (24), with Vice President JD Vance casting the tie-breaking vote.
This is the second time in US history that a vice president has broken a tie for a Cabinet nominee. The first was Mike Pence in 2017 for Betsy DeVos to head the Department of Education.
