Stations on the line had been closed since Friday (24 January), after heavy rains hit the city
O reported that Line 1-Blue returned to normal operation this Monday (January 27, 2025). The line had been closed since Friday (24 January), after the heavy rains that hit the city invaded the stations.
At the time, the Jardim São Paulo station had its tracks and internal areas flooded. Users had to climb handrails and hold on to the station railings to protect themselves from the floodwaters that hit the stairs and ramps.
The Metro reported that the circulation of trains on the line was reestablished at 11pm on Sunday (Jan 26), after the continuous work of a task force involving approximately 200 people to restore the site’s equipment.
“An access wall was also isolated and structurally reinforced, which collapsed due to the force of the water, not preventing the station from flooding. The track where the trains run was washed, with the electrical and signaling and control systems checked to ensure compliance with all guarantees of safe operation”, informed the Metrô.
He added that outsourced elevator maintenance teams were called in to adjust and replace parts of the platform access equipment, which is unavailable due to water damage.
