President Donald Trump said he is not “100% right” that he cannot run for a third term as president.
“I raised a lot of money for the next race, which I suppose I can’t use for myself, but I’m not 100% right,” Trump said on Monday during the House Republican Conference dinner, in Doral, Florida.
He still spoke relaxed, asking: “I’m not sure, can I compete again, Mike? Better not to involve you. ”
This is not the first time Trump implies the possibility of seeking three terms in office. In an appearance last Sunday, in Las Vegas, Nevada, he commented: “It will be the greatest honor of my life to serve not one but two or three times,” further feeding speculation about their future political plans.
The US President’s speech comes after Tennessee’s Republican representative Andy Ogles spoke about changing the US constitution to allow Trump to apply for a third term. However, it is difficult to add an amendment to the Constitution, which has not been changed since the 27th Amendment ratification in 1992. Formally proposing an amendment requires a two -thirds vote in the House of Representatives and Senate – Republicans do not have enough seats to approve -la -or through a constitutional convention, which has not been held since the eighteenth century. To ratify a new amendment, three quarters of state legislatures (ie 38 states) would need to approve it.
During the conference dinner, reiterating his appreciation for the application and his preference to be sold by his Chinese mother company, Bytedance. “China will not be involved,” he said, insisting that “many people” are interested in buying the platform.
