In hospital for almost a month, the mayor of Belo Horizonte, Fuad Noman (PSD), has spent longer periods breathing without the help of appliances, only with ambient air, according to a bulletin released on Saturday (2).
“It is evolving, for longer periods, without the need for oxygenation by tracheostomy, only with ambient air. Intensive program of physical therapy, motor and neurological rehabilitation is maintained, ”says the medical statement.
Fuad is hospitalized at the Mater Dei Hospital in the capital of Minas Gerais since January 3. At the time, the mayor entered the hospital unit with an acute respiratory failure.
The next day, tests found that it was a pneumonia.

Since winning the election on October 27, the mayor of Belo Horizonte has been hospitalized four times.
In June 2024, Fuad announced that he had lymphatic cancer. He underwent chemotherapy treatment during electoral pre-campaign and in October announced that cancer was in remission and that the treatment had been completed.
Because of cancer treatment, the politician is susceptible to various opportunistic diseases, such as pneumonia, due to low immunity.
