He wants to support the agreement between Israel and the Gaza Strip and maintain the ceasefire.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan admitted on Sunday that Turkey could accept part of the Palestinian prisoners whose Israel released on the conditions of an ceasefire agreement with the Palestinian radical movement Hamas. Informed AFP, writes TASR.
Fidan explained that Turkey would have taken this step in order to support the agreement between Israel and Hamas. At a press conference in Doha Fidan, he added that Turkey and other countries would do everything in this respect to keep the ceasefire agreement in force.
The first phase of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip focuses on the gradual release of 33 Israeli hostages detained by Hamas in exchange for the release of approximately 1900 prisoners, mostly Palestinians who are detained in Israeli prisons. However, many of these prisoners should be permanently expelled after being released. Of the 183 prisoners released during the last exchange on Saturday, seven Palestinians and one Egyptian were expelled.
