Trump denies having closed final agreement on fee with Mexico; says acting in negotiation

United States President Donald Trump said on Monday that the country has not yet closed a permanent agreement on the rate of tariffs with Mexico. Earlier, the Republican confirmed a 1 month break in protectionist measures.

In an interview with reporters at the White House Oval Hall in the afternoon of Monday, Trump reiterated having talked to Mexico president Claudia Sheinbaum and said she likes her. “We have a good relationship,” he said.

Trump stressed that he intends to engage in negotiations with Mexicans, who will be led by Treasury Secretaries Scott Bessent; Trade, Howard Lutnick; and state, Marco Rubio.

According to him, the main demand is that the neighboring country will stop the entry of Fentanil and illegal immigrants through the American border.

Still on Latin America, Trump reported that he negotiates an agreement with the Panama Channel which, according to him, was “foolish” manner given to the Panamanhos. “Panama violates the deal,” he accused, who added that the channel was not granted to China.
