The Portimão Municipal Market celebrates the Algarve orange with a week dedicated to this citrus so appreciated. From February 18 to 22, customers will be able to purchase oranges at a special price and watch various activities that highlight the benefits and versatility of this fruit.
Organized by the vegetable sector of the market and the municipality of Portimão, the event runs under the motto “Orange Algarvia – there is no healthier fruit” and will feature daily showcookings, between 10:00 and 11:30, where inspired recipes will be presented. in the orange.
It will be responsible for streamlining these culinary statements, and on the last day, February 22, chef Nuno Martins, from the restaurant “Num”, will be present with a special moment dedicated to the theme “Sustainability and Zero Waste of Orange”.
In addition to gastronomic activities, market operators will promote draws to customers, offering vouchers with monetary awards for purchases at the municipal market.
The action also has the support of Gil Eanes Vocational School, which will ensure the photo record of the five days of the event.
“Good morning, market” program
On February 22, the closing of Orange Week will be marked with the live broadcast of the “Good Mercado, Market” program, which aims to capture the energy on Saturday morning at the Portimão Municipal Market.
The program will be a platform for musicians, singers and other artists in the region, promoting local culture and interacting with market customers. The emission will take place from 10:00 to 12:00, in partnership with Radio Alvor FM and its online emission.
With the objective of valuing the Municipal Market and highlighting its traders, producers and local artists, the program “Bom Dia, Market” will start on February 15 and, exceptionally, will also be broadcast on the 22nd. From that date, It will take place biweekly for about five months.
