During the solemn opening session of the judiciary, on Monday (3.FEV.2025), Barroso took stock of justice in Brazil. The STF president stated that the cost of power was R $ 132.8 billion, representing 1.2% of GDP (Gross Domestic Product). However, Barroso made a caveat, stating that the cost would include the MP (Public Prosecution Service) and the Public Defender’s Office.

The X Communities employees, in a statement, corrected the Court Minister, saying that, according to the CNJ (National Council of Justice), the amount of R $ 132.8 billion “It refers only to the expenses of the Judiciary in 2023, not encompassing the expenses of public ministries and public defenders ”.

The report “Justice in numbers 2024”, Produced by the CNJ compared to 2023, indicates that the total expense related to the judiciary was R $ 132,753,957,654, being R $ 119.7 billion spending on personnel and R $ 13 billion with other expenses, such as capital expenses and current expenses.

In personnel costs, the 18,265 magistrates with provided positions would be included.
