The second stage of the Superbike 2025 World Cup returns to the Algarve International Race, promising an exciting event, full of reasons to be accompanied live. Among the main attractions is the return of the historic and iconic Italian brand Bimota, which returns to competition after a long absence.
Bimota has a remarkable legacy in the championship, having won the first race in the history of the Superbike World Cup, on April 3, 1988, in Donington Park. That same year, he won seven wins, five with Davide Tredozzi and two with Stéphane Mertens, who joined three more triumphs by Giancarlo Falappa in 1989, before the brand officially abandoned the championship. In 2000, the bimota won again, with Australian Anthony Gobert to master a race in Phillip Island’s wet stroke.
The return to the championship took place in 2013, when the bimota associated with the Alstare Racing in the newly created Evo SBK subclass, with Ayrton Badovini and Christian Idon as pilots. However, the adventure lasted only nine rounds due to BB3 approval problems, which used a BMW engine, forcing the brand to withdraw again from the competition.
Now, in 2025, Bimota returns to the Superbike World Cup in a strategic partnership with Kawasaki, which became a shareholder of the Italian brand. In this collaboration, the bimota assumes the development of cycling, while Kawasaki is responsible for motorization and electronic. In addition, the structure of Kawasaki’s former official team was maintained, including pilots Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani.
The Superbike World Cup at the Algarve International Race Track will be held between March 28 and 30, and tickets are now available for purchase on the official website of the circuit :.
