The president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) said, on Monday (10), that the country “has money” to invest in education.

He also cited the money from the Fund for Maintenance and Development of Basic Education (Fundeb), and called for help from mayors to improve the educational scenario in Brazil.

“Money has, just say we’ll put money. And you saw what we are doing in education, you saw how much Fundeb money has. And we want the mayors’ contribution, we will not do it alone. We want each mayor to assume the responsibility to do better than he can do, ”said Lula during a National Seal Award ceremony commitment to literacy in Brasilia.

The president also mentioned the initiative to attract young people to teaching, reduce dropout in undergraduate courses and strengthen teacher education in Brazil.

“When we have now become aware that we need to create a footing foot so that people will want to be a teacher again, we decided to create a scholarship so that the best students in Enem choose to be a teacher, because we I didn’t just want the weaker, we also wanted the strongest, ”said the petista.

Lula further stated that.

“When Camilo [ministro da Educação] Account of her foot, it was a shame for Brazil to have 500,000 children who gave up on school to help a father or mother put the beans on the table. Many rulers thought this was natural, because this country had ruler who thought the country should be ruled to 35% of the population, ”he said.

“Then we had no budget problem. We would have no problem with a tax deficit, because it is to rule for fewer people, and people with more money, ”he said.
