It is close to the launch of a new model of called GPT-4.5, after facing obstacles in the development of the AI system last year.
In a series of posts on social network X on Wednesday (12), the CEO of OpenAi, said that the model, which the company referred internally as Orion, will be launched in a matter of “weeks”. THE Bloomberg News In November he reported that Orion was not reaching the performance desired by OpenAi.
The launch of the GPT-4.5 will mark the end of an era for some way for OpenAi. Altman said the model will be the last introduced by the company that does not use additional computational power to imitate the ways of humans reason. OpenAi adopted the reasoning approach to some of its newer models, including O1 and O3.

Altman stated in the post that OpenAi will combine its GPT models, which have fed the original chatbot, with its new O model series, to build AI systems that can automatically determine how long to reflect on an appointment before providing an answer. The goal, he said, is to simplify the experience so that users are not required to choose from an increasingly complicated list of options.
“We want AI ‘just work’ for you; We realize how complicated our product models and offerings have become, ”wrote Altman. “We hated the models selector as much as you.”

Altman also mentioned that OpenAi is advancing with a GPT-5 model for the end of this year, which will bring together much of the company’s AI technology, including O3. The company had launched a smaller version of this system called O3-Mini, but had not yet released the full model.
An OpenAi spokesman refused to comment beyond Altman’s statements.
