GNR’s Faro Territorial Command carried out a set of operations in the Faro district, between February 24 and March 2, with the purpose of preventing and combating violent crime, overseeing traffic and ensuring road safety, having detained 57 people and registered 117 road accidents last week.
During the operation, 57 people were arrested in the act, of which 20 for driving without legal qualification, 14 by driving under the influence of alcohol and nine for drug trafficking.
During the inspections, the authorities seized 318 doses of hashish, 97 doses of heroin and a revolver.
Regarding traffic, 776 infractions were detected, with 139 by speeding, 97 related to anomalies in lighting and signaling systems, 80 due to lack of compulsory periodic inspection, 28 due to absence of liability insurance, 18 due to misuse of the mobile phone during driving and 15 for lack or incorrect use of the seat belt and the retention system for children.
Regarding the claim, 117 road accidents were registered, resulting in two serious injuries and 25 minor injuries.
These operations are part of the continuous effort to ensure public and road safety in the Faro district.
