Police officers of the Criminal Police Department of the Regional Directorate of the Police Force in Žilina carried out the police on 28 February an action called Otík with the aim of documenting extremist crime. They detained an 18-year-old man from the Žilina district. TASR informed the Žilina regional police spokeswoman Zuzana Šefčíková.

“The event took place under the cooperation of the Department of Special Purpose of the Presidium of the Police Force, the Office of Special Police Activities, Europol (Netherlands, Italy, Austria, Belgium) and the Slovak Information Service,” The spokeswoman said.

Two house searches, tours of other premises and tours of persons were carried out during the event Secured a total of more than 60 feet of clothing, flags, badges, patches and computer data related to extremist themes, as well as knives, mobile phones, PC technology, notebook and USB keys.

Procedural acts were carried out in cooperation with the Regional Prosecutor’s Office, where the prosecutor was present on the spot throughout the implementation. “The result of house searches, as well as analyzes performed, was the detention of a suspicious 18-year-old young man from the Žilina district and subsequently raising charges for the crime of establishing, supporting and promoting the movement aimed at suppressing fundamental rights and freedoms, crime of extremist material production, crime of expanding extremist material.” Zefčíková approached.

She also added that the regional investigator processed a complaint for filing a petition for his custody, which the Specialized Court accepted. With regard to the ongoing investigation, no more detailed information cannot be provided.
