An information session on support and respective financing for water reuse and the implementation of circular economy practices took place on February 26.
The event was promoted by AHETA – Algarve Hotels and Tourism Enterprises Association, in articulation with various business associations, the Algarve Coordination and Regional Development Commission (CCDR Algarve), Algarve Tourism and Portugal Tourism.
The climate and energy transition incentive system aims to boost the transition to a circular economy, aligning with the new action plan for the circular economy, adopted in 2020 under the European Ecological Pact.
Under the Algarve 2030 Regional Program, the SITCE-Circular Economy (Algarve-2024-61) was presented, which will be open until April 15, 2025 and is directed to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). This warning provides support rates that can reach up to 60% lost fund for investments in efficient water reuse, namely in the treatment of water from the irrigation swimming pools and other uses.
The global endowment of the program is € 1,000,000, designed to support business projects that promote circularity, including:
- The development of new products, resulting from entrepreneurial discovery processes that exploit the circularity potential of different by -products and sectors;
- Optimization of resources use and its circularity through the reconversion of production processes;
- The reduction of raw material consumption, including the production of more sustainable packaging;
- The adoption of eco-design activities that encourage the use of recyclable materials and/or by-products for the creation of new products, as well as the implementation of more sustainable productive solutions;
- The elaboration of diagnoses for the reorientation of logistics and supply chains, as well as the implementation of new business models based on the circular economy, such as the product as a servicematerial reuse or sharing economy;
- The recycling and reuse of resources to promote the circular economy.
In addition to the SMEs, non-business entities in the Research and Innovation System (Enesii) can also apply as Copromotors.
More information and details about the warning can be consulted.
