The Algarve International Race Track (AIA) continues to reinforce its commitment to sustainability and, at the end of March, will publicly present its new fully electric service motorcycle fleet.
In partnership with Yamaha, which is already equating the circuit’s Racing School with the R1, R6 and R3 models, AIA will use agiles and efficient Yamaha Neo’s on all internal operations during competition weekends. The most visible use of these new bikes will be in the “motorcycle taxi” service, responsible for transporting pilots back to Paddock after falls, accidents or malfunctions.
“This will be the most visible face, but all our services will use the now Neo’s arrivals. It was easy to find the best solution with our partner, Yamaha, and thus we take another step towards carbonic neutrality throughout our operation. The Neo’s will help a lot, as we have ceased to have combustion motorcycles operating in our circuit, ”says Miguel Praia, Parkalgar’s administrator.
Yamaha Neo’s are completely electric and were equipped with an extra battery to increase autonomy. Motorcycle charging will be carried out through energy from solar panels installed in the circuit, reinforcing the AIA’s commitment to sustainable solutions.
This investment is added to other ecological initiatives already implemented by the Algarve International Race Track, such as the use of synthetic fuels, rain and residual waters, waste separation, energy production with photovoltaic panels and the collection of food surpluses.
Thanks to these measures, it has been recognized worldwide for its good environmental practices, being named as a reference by promoters of competitions such as MotoGP, Superbike and European Le Mans Series.
