An elderly couple was found dead, with signs of violence in the municipality of Montalegre. The case was delivered to the Judicial Police.
O For a neighbor who has not seen the couple for several days. He was surprised and decided to look for them at home. Upon arriving and without anyone responding at the door, he squeezed by a window. It was then that he saw the bodies of 82 -year -old Manuel Barroso and his wife Beatriz Araújo, 83 fallen on the floor.
“My wife always went, after a day or two, knock on the door. And when she didn’t hear, my wife went behind the kitchen window (…) and I went there, I saw her on the fallen floor, ”said the neighbor.
“Around 14:40 we received the alert for a relief request. The neighbors have not seen the elderly for a few days, we immediately inform INEM and the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority for a rescue door opening, ”explained Hernani Carvalho, commander of the volunteer firefighters.
According to a source of the Republican National Guard that was also at the scene, the bodies showed signs of violence. And because the judicial police were suspected of crime was called to investigate the case.
The couple lived in Lisbon where the two worked for several years. After the reform they chose to live in that small town of Vila de Salto, in the municipality of Montalegre. The bodies were transported to Morgue from Hospital de Chaves where they will be autopsied.
