Even with official blocks, unauthorized bets sites recorded 30 million accesses in January and February
In the first 2 months of 2025, Brazil registered a movement of approximately R $ 350 million in illegal bets. The value was achieved despite governmental efforts to block unauthorized betting sites. The information was released by the site this Wednesday (12.mar.2025).
The survey identified more than 30 million hits to these sites, a number that represents less than 1% of total access to the legal market (2 billion in the period).
The illegal financial movement estimated was based on projections for the regulated betting market, which provides for movement of R $ 240 billion in 2025. The analysis used the relationship between traffic and financial movement of the legal market, with 1.7 billion accesses in January, to calculate the volume generated by irregular sites.
Despite the actions of the Secretariat of Awards and bets (SPA), linked to the Ministry of Finance, which determined the block of more than 10,000 irregular domains from 2024 to February 2025, the UOL indicated that about 80% of these sites remain active. They can maintain their content, redirect users or create new addresses, challenging supervision in a constantly moving digital environment.
Flashscore.com.br led the accesses among the blocked, with 24.4 million visits in Brazil from January to February 2025, followed by bingo at home (3.2 million) and BC.Game (1.4 million). International brands such as paddypower.com (Ireland) and 888sport.com (United Kingdom) also attract Brazilians despite restrictions.
