Only one of the properties of the Santa Casa da Misericorido of Lisbon that were the auction was sold. Auctions are part of the financial restructuring plan.
The second public auction of 2025 of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia of Lisbon (SCML), held this Tuesday, ended short of expectations, with Only one property sold just over 59 thousand euros. The auction, which included five properties, had a base bidding value of over 18.5 million euros, but the lack of proposals made the sale of most assets unfeasible.
The only property sold was a degraded housing in São João do Tojal, Loures. The dispute was between two companies, dear ambition, LDA and Improvisation, LDA. The first was excluded because it did not present the necessary certificates, allowing the improvisation to finish the property for 59 400 euros, only 25 euros above of the base value of bidding, reports the.
The remaining properties, including three located in Lisbon and an apartment in Seixal, did not receive any proposal. Among them, there was a large land in the parish of Ajuda, valued at 13.3 million euros. This was the second time that the terrain has failed auction, as it had already been placed for sale in unsuccessful January.
SCML has been conducting these auctions as part of a Financial Restructuring Planpresented in June 2023 by provider Paulo Sousa. The strategy includes the rationalization of resources, service merger and bets on new social games, with the objective of balancing accounts by 2027. However, the sale of heritage has found difficulties.
In January, a previous public auction got better results, with the sale of a building on José Malhoa Avenue by 11 million euros to the order of nurses and three other buildings in Oeiras for 910 thousand euros. For this new attempt, SCML included two buildings in Lisbon, one on Almirante Reis Avenue (3.3 million euros) and another on Luciano Cordeiro Street (1.6 million euros), but none of them attracted bidders.
Although the regulation allows the direct sale of unlawful properties, Santa Casa said it intends to insist on future public hams. There is no date set for the next sales attempt.
