According to João Carlos Gonçalves, Juruna, secretary general of Força Sindical, there is a confusion between scale and journey in the 6×1 debate.
“Six by one is not journey, it’s scale. You can work 4 hours a day and one day,” he says. “It is up to the trade union movement to clarify this confusion,” he says.
Juruna states that the reduction of the journey will again be placed as a negotiation item in collective agreements.
“Historically, our strength to reduce the journey through collective bargaining, mobilizations and strikes. This is how we got the reduction from 48 to 44 weekly in the trade union struggle, which was incorporated into legislation in the 1988 Constituent,” he says.
