Opposition parliamentarians criticized on Thursday (13) the agility with which Minister Alexandre de Moraes, the Supreme Court (STF), dispatched the complaint against former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and seven others for attempted coup.
In a statement, the opposition leader in the House, Deputy Zucco (PL-RS), expressed “deep concern for the STF’s unusual speed at the trial”.
“It’s a process that everyone already knows the result. And no one else seeks to hide the condemnatory will to eliminate public life from the largest political leadership of the national right, which would defeat Lula at the polls in 2026, as opinion polls already point out, ”said Zucco.
The deputy also said that the opposition “will not accept that the judiciary be instrumentalized to pursue political opponents and unbalance the democratic game.”
Moraes’s request for the trial to be scheduled was presented to Minister Cristiano Zanin, president of the First Class of the Supreme Court. After scheduling, the ministers will judge whether or not they accept the complaints made by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) against one of the nuclei investigated by the alleged coup plan.
In addition to Bolsonaro, the first core consists of: Mauro Cid, Walter Braga Netto, Alexandre Ramagem, Almir Garnier, Anderson Torres, Augusto Heleno and Paulo Sérgio Nogueira. In all, 34 people were reported by PGR.
