A month after winning his first ATP title in Buenos Aires, João Fonseca, 18, will compete on Sunday (16) another decision. The Brazilian is in the Challenger final of Phoenix, in the United States, and will face the naturalized Russian Kazakh Alexander Bublik, at 18h (from Brasilia).

Fonseca went through the semifinal after eliminating the Japanese Kei Nishikori, former top 4 in the world and currently the 76th, with a 2-set victory with a double 6/3 and 6/3, in 1h07.

“I saw him playing as a child, it was a pleasure to play with him today,” said the carioca after the confrontation, in which he gave little chance to the experienced 35 -year -old tennis player.

“I work to make a mistake, I do this since I was a child. I get inspired by the Top-5 athletes to go through my way. I play for my country, I do it for people to feel happy. Thanks to all who supported me here,” added the Brazilian.

Bublik reached the final after eliminating Portuguese Nuno Borges, also with a 2 set 0 (6/3 and 6/4) victory. Kazakh is the number 82 of the ATP ranking, while João Fonseca occupies the 80th position.
