In the networks, 56% of opinion posts support STF have made Bolsonaro defendant

Amid the virtual repercussion on the judgment of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) that made former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) defendant, 56% of social media posts that issue an opinion on the subject were favorable to the court decision. The other 44% were opposed, according to a Nexus survey – Data Research and Intelligence.

Of the total posts analyzed, 64% had a position considered “neutral” by the research criteria. OX, former Twitter, is the platform where political polarization became more evident: 53% celebrated the STF’s decision and 42% criticized, with only 5% that did not give an opinion.

On Instagram, excluding non -opinion posts (67%), were 63% in favor and 37% against. Already on Facebook, which had 69% of “neutral” posts, those that contained positioning were 55% in favor of the decision and 45% opposed.

The survey also shows that although the posts that have manifested themselves in favor of making Bolsonaro and seven of their allies defendants compose most of the universe of posts analyzed, they had only 26% of the engagement.

The critical contents of the Supreme Court decision recorded 51% of the interactions. According to Nexus spokesman analysis, right-wing profiles mobilized better to generate digital conversations on the subject, with more repercussion among their followers.

A total of 18,823 posts on the X, Facebook and Instagram platforms were collected. Of these, 551 were analyzed qualitatively. They represent 90% of the interactions generated by these contents in each network.

The posts were divided into the following categories: political class, independent press, traditional press, influencer, entertainment and unions, movements and causes.

Bolsonaro Defendant

Former President Jair Bolsonaro became a defendant in the STF for alleged attempted coup after the 2022 elections. In unanimous decision, the first class of the Supreme Court received the complaint of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) against the former president and seven people.
