The climate warmed once again in the Rio Branco City Council. Councilman Zé Lopes (Republicans) made use of the podium on Thursday (3) to request explanations about the cancellation of the Asphalt Rio Branco program and the bidding process of a new project, still unnamed and without further information disclosed.
The initial project, which promised paving in all the streets of Rio Branco, was officially ended by the city earlier this week. “While streets saw mud, R $ 150 million evaporated from the public coffers,” said Zé Lopes.

According to found, some points raised for the formation of the CPI are: Where were the R $ 150 million that disappeared from the R $ 190 million originally expected? Why were only the main streets paved, and with questionable quality? Who authorized the cancellation before the completion of the advertised works, without accounting to the population?
“This is a crime against the people! This money could be saving lives: in health posts, at mediators for autistic children…”, said the councilman in the podium. He concluded announcing that he will file the CPI request of Asfalta Rio Branco with the support of other parliamentarians.
The city claims “priority review”, but did not present any spreadsheet detailing the spending.
“Meanwhile, residents of neighborhoods such as Bahia Nova and João Eduardo, among many others, are still diverting craters,” said the councilman.
