Chinese diplomacy says the speech of the 40th US President “finds new relevance in 2025”
The China Embassy in the United States on Monday (7.br.2025) a video of a statement by the 40th US President Ronald Reagan (Republican Party) against tariff policies.
In an X (Ex-Twitter) post, Chinese diplomacy exhibited an excerpt from a radio show in 1987, when the then president said foreign products may work, but “Just for a short time.” According to the embassy, the republican’s speech has “New relevance in 2025”.

The Chinese publication refers to the rates of current US President Donald Trump (Republican). On April 2, Trump announced rates “Reciprocas” at least. For China, the White House will impose 34% taxes.
The rates still add to in March, which leads to a total of 54% of taxes on Chinese imports. The Asian country said on Friday (4.abr) that at the same rate of 34%, as Trump threatened to impose another 50% of taxes if China does not retain until 3rd (8.abr).

Despite the historical admiration of the trumpists, Reagan had a different trade policy from the one adopted by the current US leader. In the view of the 40th president, the US economy should expand the relationship with other countries as it encourages free trade.
